Everyone loves the idea of changing themselves for the better, yet are reluctant to do so because it requires effort, commitment, failure and struggles. No one wants to show or see their own weaknesses that comes with change. So that's why a lot of people around this time of year want to change and set unrealistic unattainable goals what I call "New Years Week To Do List". Instead of trying to change themselves baby step by baby step. Then they wonder why they can't change. But regardless of people's reluctant frame of mind to change, life goes on. In that same breath, life = change. So whether you're ready or not, people will come and go in your life, circumstances and events will unfold in the next year that will force you to change anyway. So you may as well try and use it to your own advantage and set realistic, achievable goals that you can alter or make more difficult as the year goes on. This time last year I was struggling with the concept of being a final year student. Struggling to keep afloat with my exams and assignment deadlines. Anxiety about being expected to know so much more than I did despite my best efforts. Had a flat that I barely lived in due to placements being more close to home than I originally anticipated and some hostility issues in the house. My nanny had just passed away. (That in itself forced a few people out of my life) Issues with placement confidence wise. Two amazing holidays to Spain. Spending time in the cottage with my family. Passing my exams. Getting my first Nurse Post. Graduating. Some people who I started the year with are no longer in touch with me, (despite my previous efforts to try and rekindle friend relationships). I'm not a perfect person and I'm not saying that I've been a victim the whole time, I take responsibility for my actions and with that comes consequences. So I understand that not everyone is gonna stay in my life forever. Sad as it may be. ;\ My personality has changed some what over the course of 2014. I think I'm a bit more of a softie than I used to be. For instance, I have a pin board dedicated to fluffy and cute animals on Pinterest! (Follow me below!) I never used to be really into animals until this year :) I love them sure but I never cooed over them like I have recently haha! I'm also a stronger person as I know what I can overcome and how much I can take on at one time. It is just managing this and remembering to not take on so much is my problem! LOL! Last year I had two jars. One jar was for "New Years Resolutions" The second jar was for "Completed Resolutions" Some of them were achievable, others are long term goals that might take me a while, so those ones will still apply this year. But here's a list of my new Years Resolutions
1) To become more knowledgeable in Emergency Nursing 2) Travel more 3) Do one brave thing occasionally 4) Don't trust people too much 5) Become better at reading people 6) Start my own Reflexology business. 7) To love and appreciate people more and be grateful for those in my life :) 8) Do yoga/pilates more 9) Meditate spiritually more 10) Keep a fitter and healthier lifestyle (starting juice plus!) Tune in next year to see if any of these were completed... HAHA!
